Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born 13 December 1989 in Pennsylvania's West Reading. Swift has been a singer/songwriter from the pop/country genre for over 20 years. The stories she tells of her romantic love in the midst of heartbreak and young love have gained her widespread popularity in the 21st Century. Swift was a fan of music from a young age, and quickly moved from roles in children's theatre until her first performance before the crowd of a thousand. When Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner in front of a Philadelphia 76ers game at age 11. She was already creating songs. The next year she began playing guitar. Drawing inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original songs that were a reflection of her own experiences of tween alienation. When she was 13 Swift's parents sold their farm in Pennsylvania to move towards Hendersonville Tennessee so she could spend more time to courting country labels in nearby Nashville.
